Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is Chem-Dry?
A. Chem-Dry’s unique approach to carpet cleaning provides a better experience and leaves your home healthier. Chem-Dry uses the power of carbonation to extract more dirt and grime from your carpets, giving them a deeper clean. As well, our carbonated cleaning substances only require us to use a fraction of the moisture steam cleaners require. This allows your carpets to dry quicker and helps prevent the growth of mold and mildew under your carpet.  Chem-Dry’s signature cleaning solution, The Natural®, is a cleaning mixture that—through the power of carbonation—lifts dirt to the surface where it is whisked away. The Natural® is non-toxic and ideal for homes with kids and pets, and recently received the Green Certification.
Q. Can other cleaning methods actually hurt my carpets?
A. Yes! The sticky residues from shampoo never really dry. Instead, they cling to every carpet fiber, actually attracting more dust and soil.  Thus, shampooed carpets re-soil very quickly.
"Steam" or  hot water extraction can cause carpets to rot or mildew because of excessive drying time. And the extreme flooding of carpets so common with these methods can utterly destroy the jute (canvas-like) backing on fine carpet. Such flooding can also damage hardwood floors beneath the carpets, making them warp.
Q. Does Chem-Dry use excessive amounts of water as in steam cleaning methods?
A.  No! With Chem-Dry, your carpets dry in minutes and the high concentration of CO2 eliminates the need for massive amounts of water used in other processes. With Chem-Dry there is no threat of shrinkage, mildew, rot or floor damage.
Q. Will my carpets stay clean longer with Chem-Dry?
A.  Yes! One of the greatest advantages of the Chem-Dry method is that it is free of sticky residues. Once soil, grease and stains are removed, the solution evaporates. Since crystal clear CO2 is the dirt releasing agent rather than soaps or harsh chemicals, there are no sticky residues left in your carpets to attract dirt. Laboratory tests show that carpets cleaned the Chem-Dry way actually stay clean as long as factory fresh carpets do.
Q. Should I vacuum before you arrive?
A.  That is not necessary - we will vacuum with our commercial, HEPA-filtered vacuum when we arrive.  Vacuuming is part of our standard service and we will vacuum every job before we start.
Q. Will you move my furniture?
A.  Sure! We can move most furniture for you - we ask for you to remove small or fragile items from the floor or tables, but other than that we will move your couches, tables, chairs, etc for you when we arrive.  There are some exceptions such as bookcases, TVs, large beds, entertainment centers, china cabinets and similar items.  Any furniture we move we will also put back in place for you as well - we will place plastic tabs or styrofoam blocks under the legs so you do not get any damage from the damp carpet.  There is no charge for moving furniture.
Q. What forms of payment do you accept?

A. We accept cash, checks or credit cards - including Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.  Payment is expected when services are rendered.

Q. How often should I have my carpets cleaned?

A. We recommend having your carpets cleaned a minimum of once every year.  If you have kids, pets (or both), we recommend every 6-8 months.  Regular cleaning will not only improve your home's appearance, but it will also contribute to the overall indoor air quality and extend the life of your carpeting.
